Havenwyck Hospital (a UHS facility) is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults.
The Art Therapist is responsible for the provision of Art Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions, and discharge planning. The therapist utilizes individual and/or group interventions to bring about positive changes in the patient's behavior, be it cognitive, social, emotional, or physical. The therapist educates the patient in healthy coping skills, and available resources to continue the client in post-discharge planning and involvement. The therapist will be responsible for the provision of services according to the current standards of practice.
Duties will include but are not limited to: establishing treatment goals and objectives to meet individual needs of patients and determining the Art Therapy Modality by which the goals are achieved; evaluating each patient's progress and the effectiveness of therapy treatment, and recording results on daily progress notes; following all documentation policies; developing and applying clinical skills by interviewing and assessing patient's level of functioning, observing patient participation in Art Therapy Sessions and their response to the same; attending treatment team conferences to exchange information and observations with other members of the team, as well as assisting with the completion of the initial Treatment Plan and Treatment Plan progress summary updates; using a variety of art-based expressive therapies using different forms of media; collaborating with patients using a unique skill set of theoretical approaches in the use of art in the implementation of their treatment; and having a flexible work schedule to meet program/hospital needs.

Qualifications: Master's degree in Theories of Art Therapy, Counseling, or Psychotherapy from an institute identified by the American Art Therapy Association required. Doctorate's degree preferred. The individual must be eligible to take the National Art Therapy Registration (ATR) examination and obtain the registration within 2 years of the hire date. Experience in psychiatric setting preferred. Current and valid Limited License Professional Counselor (LLPC) or License Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Michigan preferred. Employees must be in good standing (employment/corrective action history, evaluation, etc.) to be considered for internal transfers.
