Position Overview:
The Bravehearts Program Manager will assume a meaningful yet practical leadership role in supporting the Executive Director of the Bravehearts with the programmatic coordination, staff support, and day-to-day operations of all programs within the portfolio of the organization. This individual who will work out of The Children’s Village Residential campus Brave Space site, will co-facilitate direct supervision spaces, accountability efforts, and offer consistent support strategies to all program staff, ensuring quality implementation of services including, but not limited to; mentoring, goal attainment, emotional support, documentation, scheduling, and service meetings/connections for youth transitioning out of or once impacted by foster care, juvenile justice, and mental health systems. The ideal candidate is highly organized, desires continued learning, creative, diligent, effective communicator, fun-spirited, deeply committed to peer-led LEX (lived experience) values, and uniquely skilled in holding space for both structure and empathy in team environments.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in program coordination/management, or team leadership, preferably in peer led youth services, mental health, foster care, juvenile justice, or nonprofit sectors. Demonstrated ability to provide healing-centered supervision, and effective performance feedback to staff members. Experience supporting and holding teams/individuals accountable while maintaining trauma-informed, strength-based, and trauma responsive practices. Strong understanding of and/or lived experience within foster care, juvenile justice, or mental health systems (LEX candidate not required, but a plus). Demonstrated ability to manage multiple programs or projects with competing priorities and deadlines. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in fast-paced, youth-centered environments. Commitment to peer-led values and supporting the development of a LEX workforce/skill competency. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust, navigate conflict, and foster collaboration across diverse teams. Proficiency with basic computer software tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Teams, Canva, Adobe, etc). Prior experience working in or managing a peer-led or youth-led program. Experience in supervisory and/or coaching practices, youth development, or trauma-informed care (not required but a plus). Knowledge of New York State’s child welfare, juvenile justice, and mental health systems. Experience supporting organizations through growth, transitions, and/or leadership restructuring (not required, but a plus). Familiarity with grant compliance, data tracking, and program evaluation (not required, but a plus). Demonstrate understanding of the causes and concerns that child welfare impacted youth in NYS experience. Demonstrate understanding of the complex issues facing Black and Latino adolescents. Ability to work effectively as a representative for the organization, team member and independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective and professionally grounded relationships with staff and stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to adapt information through a lens of neurodivergent equity. Demonstrate strong integrity and compassionate care while providing healing-based support services.
