Job Description

You’ll be the link between culinary creativity and operational precision, owning the data that drives our food programs, supporting recipe accuracy, food costing, inventory systems, and the tools that keep our production running smoothly.

This is not a “back office” job; it’s a dynamic, hands-on position for someone who knows what works in the kitchen and how to bring that same clarity and order to systems, processes, and people.

Responsibilities:

Master Culinary Database & Recipe Management (50%)

  • Oversee the master recipe database to ensure recipes are accurate, operationally sound, and up to LUX standards
  • Review and edit recipes for kitchen math accuracy, yield conversions, and prep clarity
  • Maintain consistency in format and procedure using our internal culinary style guide
  • Lead recipe modernization and updates to reflect current products and best practices
  • Ensure ingredient lists align with purchasing and production expectations
  • Troubleshoot recipe inquiries, including allergen and dietary restriction adjustments
  • Monitor and verify food cost percentages using provided costing tools

Caterease & Food Cost Application Support (25%)

  • Serve as the administrator for Caterease and other food costing platforms
  • Track menu changes, input pricing updates, and maintain item and ingredient libraries
  • Collaborate with Sales and Culinary teams on new menu item implementation
  • Support the Sales team with accurate, up-to-date pricing and costing documentation
  • Facilitate training on food costing systems and troubleshoot user issues
  • Create usable templates, reports, and pricing tools that improve efficiency and accuracy

Culinary & Operations Admin Support (15%)

  • Anticipate and support production and operations needs, especially during holidays and high-volume seasons
  • Schedule recipe testing and development alongside the culinary leadership team
  • Edit and proof menus to ensure consistency in portioning, formatting, and allergen labeling
  • Research vendors, ingredients, and alternative products for innovation and dietary compliance
  • Support the creation of training materials and SOP documentation

Special Projects & Hands-On Support (10%)

  • Assist on production floor or in the kitchen when needed—this is a support role, but grounded in culinary awareness
  • Lead or support special projects that touch culinary systems, recipe rollouts, or product launches

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of culinary experience, with a strong understanding of kitchen operations and food costing
  • A culinary degree or equivalent professional experience; bonus points for experience in large-scale or catering kitchens
  • Proven experience working with recipe databases and costing tools (Caterease, Coastguard or similar platforms)
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working in digital systems (Google Suite, database software, etc.)
  • Excellent kitchen math and a solid grasp on how recipes translate to cost, prep, and portioning
  • Strong attention to detail and a systems mindset—someone who loves building efficient, clean, scalable processes
  • Effective communication skills—able to explain processes to culinary, sales, and ops teams with ease
  • A calm, collaborative approach to problem-solving, especially under pressure
