Blackfeet Community Hospital is hiring long-term contract locum NPs and PAs for our Emergency Room located in Browning, Montana. This is a government-owned and operated facility providing both inpatient and outpatient services.

Details:

  • Long-term ER NP/PA contract opportunity, up to 1 year with possible extensions 
  • Flexible hours with day, night, and mid shifts available 
  • Housing available 
  • Local or travel locum tenens welcome to apply 
  • Emergency Room or Urgent Care experience as an NP or PA required 
  • 2–3 years of experience preferred 
  • Previous locum tenens and IHS facility experience preferred 
  • Certification as an NP (FNP or AGACNP) or PA required 
  • Must hold a valid U.S. license (any state) 
  • Experience treating both adult and pediatric patients required

     

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide professional emergency medical services and direct patient care in the ER 
  • Evaluate adult and adolescent patients presenting to the emergency department 
  • Make preliminary diagnoses, prescribe treatments, and arrange for referrals or specialized care 
  • Deliver care to patients with a broad range of medical conditions, often critical or complex 
  • Stabilize and transfer major trauma patients (penetrating wounds, TBI, hemorrhage, blunt trauma, etc.) 
  • Manage pediatric trauma, psychiatric emergencies, and critical medical conditions such as septic or cardiopulmonary shock 
  • Perform advanced airway management (where permitted by scope and credentialing) 
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and facility staff to ensure comprehensive emergency care

Requirements:

  1. Active, Unrestricted License — Must hold a current and unrestricted license to practice in Montana, any U.S. state, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  2. Experience in Emergency Medicine 
  3. Active DEA Registration — Required to prescribe controlled substances.
    Certifications — Must have current certifications in:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
      Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
      Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  4. Citizenship — Must be a U.S. citizen living primarily within the United States.
  5. Experience — A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience is required.
  6. Credentialing — Must complete all credentialing requirements within 10 days of offer acceptance.
  7. Federal Security Clearance — Must be willing and able to complete and pass the federal security clearance process.
