Job Description

About the Position

We are currently looking for a bright, committed and ambitious attorney with seven or more years of experience to join our Trial and Litigation Practice Group, with a focus on eminent domain. This position is open to our San Diego, Los Angeles or Oakland office.

Qualified candidates must have excellent academic credentials, outstanding analytical and creative thinking capabilities, superior research and writing skills, and a strong work ethic. In addition, a successful candidate will have a proven ability to work in teams and an interest in elevating the Meyers Nave brand and reputation. It is essential that candidates possess significant experience with law and motion practice, including dispositive motions. Candidates should also have prior experience in building a case for trial, including developing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and taking and defending depositions. Eminent Domain or real estate/real property experience preferred but not required.

This position affords an opportunity for a motivated and qualified attorney to gain significant litigation and trial experience on a wide array of public entity-related land acquisition issues throughout California.

We offer a hybrid work schedule with continued work from home opportunities, coupled with core “in office” days with colleagues to promote collaboration and collegiality. The salary range for this California-based role is $175,000 – $260,000, and represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, skill set and office location. Meyers Nave offers a reasonable billable hours requirement, annual discretionary and billable hours bonuses, competitive health insurance benefits, 401(k) with a partial match and profit-sharing.

About Meyers Nave

Meyers Nave is a robust midsize law firm with five offices throughout California. For over 35 years, we have built a reputation as a “go to” law firm to handle high profile and high stakes matters for both public entities and private sector clients.

Our Trial and Litigation Practice Group includes a robust litigation practice in federal and state courts focused on complex litigation that usually includes constitutional claims. We are actively engaged in all phases of litigation from initial pleadings through discovery, dispositive motion practice, trial, and appeal.

We are particularly well-known for our experience in Eminent Domain, handling large transportation and infrastructure projects, including a variety of large scale transit and sports stadium developments. We commonly assist public entities in obtaining the parcels of land needed for these important public projects. In addition to providing clients with our advice and counsel, we are typically in trial several times a year in both bench and jury trials.
