Overview English Teacher (Eligibility Pool 2025-2026) – East Side Union High School District. This eligibility pool is for future openings during the 2025-2026 school year. Responsibilities Develops and presents lessons to students; evaluates students' progress; maintains proper classroom control and learning environment; assists in curriculum development; supports and supervises co-curricular activities. Develops and presents lessons that are consistent with the district course of study; ensures performance objectives are understood by students and aligned with district goals. Evaluates student progress based primarily on achievement of performance objectives. Uses a variety of instructional techniques and materials appropriate to the course and to the students. Maintains proper classroom control and a suitable learning environment; demonstrates punctuality; keeps current records of student attendance and progress. Participates with fellow staff members in curriculum and instruction development and other departmental activities; stays current in subject area; continually works for improvement of instructional techniques; makes periodic evaluation of the subject(s) taught. Adheres to the approved district course of study, policies and procedures; attends department and district meetings; supervises the use of equipment and facilities with safety in mind. Other duties and responsibilities: treats students with courtesy and respect; demonstrates awareness of students' social, psychological, emotional, and academic needs; supports co-curricular activities; shares ideas and materials with staff; cooperates in the use and care of equipment; participates in school/district programs; maintains knowledge of available instructional materials; works with district coordinators; keeps informed of community developments; promotes community responsibility among students; informs the community about services and educational opportunities; acts in loco parentis in accordance with state law and district regulations. Supervision: Under general supervision of the Principal; supervisory responsibility over classified personnel assigned to classes. Qualifications Appropriate secondary teaching credential. Minimum college degree to satisfy credential requirements. Evaluation Semi-annually by principal or designate for first-year teachers. Annually by principal or designate for probationary teachers. Bi-annually by principal or designate for teachers with permanent status. Notes Requirements / Qualifications: Complete online application, appropriate single-subject credential for position, transcripts, CBEST, letter of introduction, resume, letters of recommendation.
