Job Description

The Junior Learning Management Specialist plays a vital supporting role in the day-to-day operation of our Learning Management System (Absorb). This role is ideal for an early-career professional who is eager to grow in the education technology space and develop technical and operational expertise.

The JLMS reports directly to the Manager of Learning Management Solutions.

In this position, you’ll assist in building and maintaining learning cohorts, supporting internal teams through a ticketing system, and contributing to data accuracy and user experience. You’ll receive guidance and mentorship from experienced colleagues and gain hands-on experience with LMS administration, reporting, and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Cohort Support (40%)

  • Assist with creating and updating cohorts in Absorb LMS, including: Curricula, Instructor-led sessions, and Courses.
  • Coordinate with the Client Success team to support timely and accurate cohort setup.
  • Collaborate with the Technology team to learn and help improve cohort-building processes.

Ticketing & Support (30%)

  • Monitor internal ticketing system (Freshservice) to identify basic LMS-related requests.
  • Learn to resolve internal support tickets related to cohort setup and updates.
  • Begin shadowing or assisting with client-facing ticket responses over time.
  • Communicate status updates and resolutions clearly with internal teams.

Data & Reporting (10%)

  • Assist in reviewing reports within the LMS to ensure enrollment accuracy.
  • Support the resolution of basic data or reporting issues, with oversight.
  • Learn best practices for tracking, analyzing, and presenting LMS data.

Process Improvement & Collaboration (20%)

  • Participate in process improvement efforts with internal teams as a developing contributor. Teams include Client Success, Marketing, Growth & Impact (Sales), Implementation and Content focused areas.
  • Engage in learning opportunities related to LMS systems, cross-team collaboration, and educational operations.
  • Contribute positively to the Institute’s mission and operational goals.

Salary Range:

$50,000 - $55,000

Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience (Bachelor’s preferred but not required)
  • 0–2 years of experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), help desk support, or administrative coordination
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in technology, education, or user support
  • Eagerness to learn technical systems, data tools, and internal processes

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to LMS platforms like Absorb, Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, etc.
  • Familiarity with support or ticketing systems (e.g., Freshservice, Zendesk, Jira)
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or other data tools
  • Experience in an educational, nonprofit, or customer support setting
