Alert Lock & Key is a trusted provider of low voltage and security solutions for commercial construction projects across South Texas. We work with general contractors, developers, and property managers to install professional-grade access control and low voltage systems on new and existing commercial buildings and schools. We are seeking a highly skilled Low Voltage Access Control Installer with a strong background in commercial construction environments .

Position Overview:
This role is focused exclusively on commercial and construction projects —with very lite residential work. The ideal candidate should have experience installing and configuring access control systems on active job sites, understands construction schedules and processes, and can collaborate with other trades to meet deadlines and maintain quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, program, and commission commercial access control systems , including electric strikes, DPS Switches maglocks, card readers, and control panels

• Run, pull, and terminate low voltage cabling (Cat5e/6, RS-485, etc.) in new construction and tenant improvement environments

• Read and interpret construction drawings, system schematics, and wiring diagrams

• Coordinate with foremen, project managers, and other trades (electricians, framers, glaziers)

• Mount panels, enclosures, and devices in accordance with code and construction standards

• Document and label all cabling and components

• Perform troubleshooting and punch list corrections during closeout

• Maintain a clean and safe job site and follow OSHA/construction safety guidelines

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in low voltage access control installations on commercial construction projects

• Familiarity with access control systems such as Lenel, Open Options, Brivo, AMAG, HID, Avigilon, or Genetec

• Strong understanding of construction site operations and timelines

• Experience with ladders, lifts, drills, saws, and all relevant tools of the trade

• Ability to read and understand blueprints, riser diagrams, and scope documents

• Valid driver’s license

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in active construction environments

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with fire-stopping and pathway systems (EMT, J-hooks, cable tray)

• Background in structured cabling, CCTV, or intercom systems

• Familiarity with prevailing wage projects and certified payroll a plus
