About the Role:

We’re seeking a Packaging Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of packaging solutions across multiple facilities. This role provides oversight on engineering, sourcing, cost, and supply chain strategies for packaging materials. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally to ensure packaging is functional, cost-effective, and compliant with regulatory and customer requirements—while actively driving process improvements and reducing waste.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop packaging using CAD tools, considering product dimensions, fragility, shipping, and storage conditions
• Select appropriate packaging materials (cardboard, plastics, metals, etc.) based on product needs and regulatory standards
• Support cross-functional teams in developing packaging and labeling for new and existing customers
• Conduct performance testing (drop, vibration, temperature, humidity) to validate packaging designs
• Analyze packaging cost and performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste
• Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, IT, and quality teams to troubleshoot packaging issues and implement improvements
• Ensure packaging designs meet compliance requirements and customer specifications
• Lead or support audits of packaging suppliers and assist in corrective action planning

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in packaging design, development, or engineering
• Proficiency in CAD software (any platform)
• Knowledge of packaging testing methods and materials performance
• Strong problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to travel as needed (minimal)

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
• Familiarity with packaging cost optimization and logistics
• Understanding of regulatory and sustainability standards for packaging
