Job Summary

The Patient Safety Assistant (PSA) / Sitter provides continuous observation and support to patients to ensure their safety and well-being. This role is critical in preventing patient injury and assisting healthcare staff by monitoring patients closely, especially during periods of increased risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide continuous observation of assigned patients to ensure safety.
• Assist in preventing patient injury or accidents by monitoring behaviors and intervening as needed.
• Communicate effectively with nursing and clinical staff regarding patient status and any observed changes.
• Document patient observations and report concerns promptly.
• Support patient needs as directed by healthcare providers, including assistance with mobility and comfort measures.
• Maintain a safe and calm environment for patients under supervisio n.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Patient Safety Assistant or similar role.
• Ability to maintain focus and provide vigilant observation for extended periods.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team .

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience covering FMLA or temporary assignments.
• Knowledge of patient safety protocols and pro cedures.
