Job Description

Orchid Advisory, a boutique family office serving a select group of multi-generational families, is seeking a Portfolio Manager. The new team member will partner with the team to provide tailored investment strategies to all clients. The candidate will manage and monitor client portfolios, ensuring alignment with financial goals, risk tolerance and long-term objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Investment Strategy Development: Collaborate with the team to develop and execute bespoke investment strategies in line with client objectives and long-term goals. Help to build and develop firm investment models. Monitor capital market assumptions and work on changing models as needed.
  • Portfolio Management: Monitor portfolio and manager performance and asset allocation; perform portfolio rebalancing in response to market conditions or changes in client needs; assist in portfolio reviews for clients
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct detailed analysis on potential investments, including equities, fixed income, and alternative assets; stay up to date with macroeconomic trends and market developments to inform portfolio decisions. Prepare target allocations, monitor performance compared to benchmarks, maintain accurate benchmarks for each investment and asset class.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies, ensuring portfolios are diversified and adhere to client’s risk profile
  • Manager Due Diligence: Support the due diligence process for selecting and monitoring external fund managers. Manage and lead relationship with the due diligence team.
  • Client Account Reporting: Prepare detailed and timely investment reports for clients, highlighting portfolio performance, asset allocation, and market outlook, and ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of sensitive information. Work with the team to update performance report templates as needed.
  • Client Reporting System Maintenance: Ensure electronic feeds are all feeding properly from the custodians to reporting system, Black Diamond, and ensure client portals are reflecting accurate data; troubleshoot any potential issues. Own all reporting systems and maintain all data in each system.
  • Professional & Proactive Communication: Maintain consistent, professional and proactive communication with clients and internal team to align portfolio objectives and foster trust and collaboration
  • Investment Committee: Organize and plan investment committee. Create and distribute agenda and meeting notes after and own follow ups. Track all manager performance and present to the team.
  • Investment Pieces: Write investment pieces for all levels of investors. Narrow down important market trends and developments to share with clients and internal team. Clear, concise writing is critical.
  • Client IPSs : Maintain all client IPSs and review regularly. Prepare to present content to clients in a structured and easily digestible format.

Skills:

  • Experience with Black Diamond Wealth Platform, Schwab Advisor System
  • Strong understanding of investment allocation, in depth investment knowledge across asset classes, and strong interest in financial markets
  • Proficiency in conducting detailed financial analysis
  • Experience with alternative investments, including subscription and redemption documents
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously 
  • CFA preferred, or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • CAIA or CFP or similar designation is a plus. Series 65 also a plus
  • Driven, self-starter
