Visual TEMPEST Inspection Engineer

Primary Location: Contractor Facility

Must be a U.S Citizen

Security Clearance: Secret

Specific Responsibilities

Obsidian Solutions Group (OSG) is seeking a Visual TEMPEST Inspection (VTI) Engineer to provide TEMPEST test inspection support and programmatic services as part of a team conducting Visual TEMPEST Inspections at US Coast Guard (USCG) facilities nationwide.

• Assist in the development of VTI inspection reports.
• Document and assist in the management of VTI related mitigation.
• Maintain records and data collection in relation to previous VTI efforts.
• Assist in the development of TEMPEST Test Plans and Reports
• Perform VTI inspections as a member of a team or independently.
• Perform ITS inspections under the direction of a certified engineer (CTP II).
• Maintain certification as a USCG Field Technical Authority (FTA).
• Document TEMPEST survey and inspection activities, utilizing VTI guidelines at specific US Coast Guard units.
• Assist in identifying and acquiring TEMPEST information needed in the development of VTI and ITS test plans.
• Assist with the development of contingency plans and risk management options.
• Update and maintain documentation as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Must attend meetings with the COR and KO to discuss any technical problems or issues dealing with the contract, be knowledgeable of field activities that are summarized in monthly reports and coordinate the submission of travel and training requests and related functions.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• BS in related technical discipline or 5 years minimum applicable experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain active Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a clearance up to Top Secret if later needed.
• Requires a high degree of creative ability, innovative analysis approaches, engineering skills, and the ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Formal TEMPEST training at the National TEMPEST School.
• Locations: Lackland Air Force Base TX or Ft. Meade MD.
• TEMPEST equipment training (Lab Testing, Field Testing, etc.) is desirable.
• SPAWAR Shipboard Visual TEMPEST Inspector training.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Strong communications skills both oral and written.

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent w/ 5+ Years Direct Relevant Experience
• Proficiency using MS Word, Excel, Adobe, and Outlook. Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn new skills to directly support exercise specific applications.
• Strong time management and be eager to start and finish new tasks.
• Current Microsoft OS Certification.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Normal office environment and laboratory settings.
• Ability to move through confined and restricted spaces
• Capable of climbing ladders and stairways
• Ability to lift and carry equipment ranging up to 50 – 75 lbs.

Travel

• 40-60%
