EMPLOYER: Sholes Piggery, LLC JOB TITLE: Animal Scientist (Multiple Openings) JOB LOCATION: 55936 859 Rd, Randolph, NE 68771 (Cedar County) JOB DUTIES: Responsible for developing, implementing, and managing animal health and reproduction programs to improve production quantity and quality for swine farm/sow reproductive center. Specific duties include: (1) Ensuring animal health and nutrition, including providing health and vaccination treatment; (2) Developing and implementing sow reproduction programs, including selecting quality gilts for breeding, detecting heat, performing artificial insemination, and maintaining detailed records; (3) Analyzing progress of sow births, birthing process, and sow performance; (4) Performing detailed recordkeeping used for gilt selection and future reproduction activities; (5) Keeping and analyzing records on sows and offspring including insemination, farrowing, number of piglets per litter, litter health, performance, and traits and characteristics of piglets; and (6) Complying with biosecurity protocols to safeguard animal health. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, Agronomy Engineering, or a closely related field.
