MUSEUM CURATOR II – NORTH COAST REDWOODS DISTRICT / CULTURAL RESOURCES / FORT HUMBOLDT STATE HISTORIC PARK
Museum Curator I will also be considered for recruitment purposes.
The reporting location for this position will be the North Coast Redwoods District office located at 3431 Fort Avenue, Eureka, CA 95503 at Fort Humboldt State Historic Park. This position works under the direction of the Cultural Resources Program Manager.
The position is responsible for the management of the district’s museum and archaeological collections (acquisition, conservation, documentation, etc.) in accordance with department and professional standards. The Museum Curator I must be familiar with the Department's online collections management program - TMS (The Museum System) and conduct inventories of District collections and museum objects on exhibit. Must be able to: Plan, organize, and manage curation and museum housekeeping plans to protect and preserve museum and archaeological collections; Monitor, evaluate, and document conditions of objects, security, and environmental controls; Oversees Integrated Pest Management Programs; Oversees proper handling of objects to ensure they are stored and/or exhibited in accordance with current professional and departmental policies; Coordinate and direct temporary moves of museum objects for exhibits and special events. Experience working with Native American communities and collections is preferred.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
